Meet the Team

Doctor of Veterinary Medicine / Owner
David Shepherd
Dr. Shepherd graduated from Auburn University as an undergraduate in 1987 with a degree in laboratory technology. He also attended vet school at Auburn and graduated in 1991. Dr. Shepherd enjoys spending time with his family, Auburn football, doing projects around the house,playing video games with his sons and friends , and continuing education. Dr. Shepherd has been married to Dr. Jannice Laketa since 1992. They have two dogs and ten cats! Dr. Shepherd and Dr. Laketa had their daughter Morgan in 1996 and their son Quinn in 1997. They family has grown in recent years to include another adult son Quindarius and their daughter in law Caitlyn.

Jannice Laketa
Dr. Laketa graduated from Purdue University in clothing design. She attended Auburn University for veterinary school and graduated in 1991. She is a Auburn sports fanatic and grew up in a basketball family. Those of us who know her well call her the cat whisperer. Dr. Laketa enjoys going to continuing education, reading and gardening. Everyone at NRVC profits from her amazing vegetable garden every summer.

Registered Veterinary Technician / Hospital Manager
Jane Sowden
Jane graduated from Emory University in 1999 with a bachelor of science in biology. She has worked for North Roswell Veterinary Clinic since May of 1999 and became a licensed veterinary technician in 2006. Jane is a fan of Ohio State University where she was born and raised. She loves spending time at the lake, with her daughter, and when time allows she loves to travel. She has three dogs, four cats, and a few fish, all of which she rescued. Jane has a daughter, Madison, who was born in 2009.

Receptionist
Carrie Crawford
Carrie was born and raised in Syracuse, New York. She did one tour in the US Air Force out of Grand Forks, North Dakota. She moved to the South to get out of the snow. She has one cat who she shares a quiet life with. She enjoys her hobby of arts and crafts especially jewelry, walking in the woods, and eating seafood! Carrie has worked for NRVC since 2024.

Vet Assistant / Receptionist
Madison Hamblen
Madison graduated from the University of Alabama in 2023 with a B.S. in Psychology and is planning to pursue veterinary school with the hopes to specialize in equine medicine. She has grown up around horses and currently has and cares for 7 horses. Along with the horses, Madison also has a cat and a dog which she rescued and they are now best friends. In her free time, Madison enjoys being outside at the barn, at the lake, or just on a walk with her dog. She is excited to keep learning and continue her journey in veterinary medicine.

Kennel Assistant
Madison Brzostowicz
Madison is a student at Innovation Academy in Alpharetta, she will graduate in 2027. Madison loves to dance and dances for Roswell Dance Theatre the dance company associated with Tolbert Yilmez School of Dance. She dances ballet, modern, contemporary, jazz, and hip hop. She is also a student teacher for younger dancers. Madison hopes to become a trauma nurse after going to college. She is the daughter of our hospital manager Jane.

Kennel Assistant
Julia Campbell
Julia goes to Johnson Ferry Christian Academy where she will graduate in 2028. Julia lives at home with her parents and her dog Teddy. Julia is an accomplished ballerina with Roswell Dance Theatre the dance company associated with Tolbert Yilmez School of dance. Julia and Madison B have been dancing together for over 10 years. Julia hopes to become a nurse.
